The Heartburn Health Access Board
The Heartburn Health Access Board is the panel of experts and members of the public who control access to the Heartburn Health programme. For each study, researchers not part of the Heartburn Health team must go through a strict application process. This includes gaining NHS Health Research Authority approval as well as Heartburn Health Access Board approval.
The Access Board will only approve health-related studies that are:
- In line with the consent provided by people in the Heartburn Health programme
- For the public good
- Aligned with the Heartburn Health programme aims
- Run by trusted researchers
For approved studies, researchers will also need to sign a contract which says they will treat the data safely and securely.
Providing access to data
Access to relevant health research data will be provided in the Trusted Research Environment. Researchers who are not part of the Heartburn Health team will only be able to see relevant, non-identifiable research data. They will not be able to see your personal details (e.g. name, address). This means they will not be able work out who you are from the information.
Contacting you about future studies
Some research studies need additional information or would like to offer something new (e.g. a new test or treatment). The Heartburn Health team will always contact you about any future studies on behalf of other researchers.
